Marratech Information

Information about Marratech software for the Experimental Course on Volcano Instability

Any PC or Mac can be used to access the class with a web cam and microphone. Participants need PowerPoint and Marratech (free) software.

SOFTWARE:

Please download and install the latest version of Marratech:

1.    Install web-cam and microphone in your computer. Headphones with microphone will be useful.

2.    Download and install Marratech
Version 6.1 from http://www.marratech.com - click "DOWNLOAD client software" (link on right side of screen)

During installation, please use the following identities to help clarify identities during online discussion:

University groups participating in the class: Name of university

Guest speakers: your name

Individuals: your name

To change the name in your identity, go to "Tools" > "Options" > "General" tab > "Your Name"

TO JOIN THE DISCUSSION:

1.   In Marratech, go to File --> Open Location --> then Paste http://emeeting.mtu.edu into the dialogue box

2.   Login as User name: SuperVolcanoes  Password: GE5185

3.   Click on link to "private" room.

4.   Click on camera icon in bottom right to activate camera, and Ctrl + left mouse click to turn the microphone on.

To access the whiteboard - click on the pencil/pad in the lower left corner.

To add a powerpoint presentation go to File --> Open --> MS Powerpoint

During the discussion, if you wish to make changes that all will see (e.g., move to a specific slide), check Document --> Lead Page Changes, otherwise ensure that you have checked Document --> Follow Page Changes
