Tutorial IV - Editing Coverages

You will now repair the transportation coverage for Concepcion Volcano. Remove the lahar shapefile and concepcion_sh from the layers column. You should now only have the transportation coverage loaded in ArcMap. Note that, as well as the line that bisects the coverage, a frame exists around the data. This is also an error.

If the Editor is not loaded on the toolbar, click on the "View" menu and select toolbars. Click on Editor.

Click on the editor button and select "Start Editing." Your mouse pointer changes to a small, black arrow. Click on one of the border lines. The line will highlight. Press the delete button on your keyboard. The line should be gone now. Now remove all of the borders and the line that bisects the coverage. For the bisecting line, it will be necessary to delete each line twice. If an error is made, simply press the undo button. When you are finished cutting all of the lines out, your coverage should look that in Figure 2.

Click the edit button and select "Save Edits." Click the edit button and select "Stop Editing."

Close ArcMap.
