A GRADUATE COURSE ABOUT VOLCANOES AND TIME

FORECASTING ERUPTIONS IS A PRINCIPAL GOAL OF VOLCANOLOGY--THIS GOAL MUST BE AIDED BY ANALYSIS AND UNDERSTANDING OF A SERIES OF EVENTS WHICH REPRESENTS WHAT THE VOLCANO HAS ALREADY DONE.  PART OF THIS ANALYSIS IS UNDERSTANDING A TIME SEQUENCE. IN THIS CLASS WE WILL FOCUS ON A SERIES OF VOLCANIC EVENTS

WHAT IS A VOLCANO?

WHAT IS AN ERUPTION?

WHAT HAPPENS IN VOLCANIC REPOSE?

HOW DOES THE CONDUIT INFLUENCE ACTIVITY?

WHAT IS AN OPEN VENT?

HOW LONG DO VOLCANOES LAST?

DO VOLCANOES EXHIBIT INDIVIDUALISTIC BEHAVIOR?

WHAT ACTIVITY PATTERNS PERSIST OR RECUR?
