APPLICATIONS:

USGS Global Land 1-KM AVHRR Project

The USGS Global Land 1-KM AVHRR Project is an international project aimed at acquiring, archiving, processing, and distributing 1-km AVHHR data. Data covers the entire globe with the purpose of meeting the needs of the international science community. Global change data can be acquired from AVHRR.

USGS Greenness of the Conterminous U.S.

The USGS Eros Data Center produces “greenness” maps of the United States once a week. The images provide information on growth and condition of the vegetation.

National Snow and Ice Data Center

The NSIDC uses AVHRR data for climate studies, sea ice distribution and movement studies, and ice sheet coastal configuration studies.

Alaska Volcano Observatory (AVO)

AVO uses AVHRR data for volcano monitoring

Exploring Satellite Oceanography

This is a website created by the University of Rhode Island Graduate School of Oceanography. It is an introduction to satellite oceanography for high school science students.
