I am in my first year at Michigan Technological University and am a Masters of Science candidate in their Geological and Mining Engineering Sciences department. My interests lie in the realm of hazard mitigation in Central and South America. While serving as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Honduras from 2004-2006, I became aware of the people’s vulnerability to natural hazards. As I focus my research interests toward volcanic geologic hazards, I will hopefully help design a position within the United States Crisis Corps that will work in an area in Central America susceptible to disasters.
