Hazards in Latin America    &    Project Discussions

This website is geared toward PeaceCorps Master's International students in the

Mitigation of Natural Geological Hazards Program. It is the product of brainstorming
and consolidating natural hazard resources for Latin American Countries with an
emphasis on volcanic hazards in Central America.  Despite how much we prepare
for the 2 years of service with the PeaceCorps, it's not possible to bring every
piece of knowledge with us overseas, with this in mind, I've developed this site to
serve as one of the many possible resources for MI students looking for:

                                                  * Essential papers focusing on volcanic and landslide hazard assessments
                                                  * Concise Fact Sheets for volcanic hazards - available for downloading
                                                  * Landslide and lahar references and resources that should aid project development
                                                  * Lists and resources for volcano monitoring methods and technology
                                                  * Lists of primary volcanic hazards in Latin America with links to:
descriptions, locations, photographs, and current research and monitoring efforts
                                                  * Lists of principle volcanoes in both Central and South America
                                                  * A world-wide listing with links to volcano observatories including VolcanoCams
