Morning Update
0700H 06 May, 1996

Activity at the Soufriere Hills volcano during the night continued at about the same level as during the previous 12 hours. Seismicity continues to be characterised by intermittent low amplitude broadband tremor recorded at the seismic stations nearest to the volcano and several small- to moderate-sized rockfalls.

Visibility during the early morning from Bramble Airport and the Observatory has been poor.

The MVO still views the situation at the Soufriere Hills Volcano with grave concern and the scientists continue to urge that visits to the evacuated zone be kept to a minimum. The Tar River, Long Ground and Whites areas are extremely dangerous, and should not be entered under any circumstances.
