Merry Christmas!

Three (3) volcano-tectonic earthquakes were located overnight: one southeast of St. George's Hill, another beneath Centre Hills and the third west of Old Road Bay. These earthquakes were in the depth range 2 - 4 km. Eight long-period events occurred which were recorded at most seismic stations and some may represent very small shallow explosions within English's crater. The very small repetitive long-period events were just barely detectable at the Gages and Long Ground seismic stations and occurred at a rate of about 1 per minute. A few short-duration episodes of low amplitude, broadband tremor were also recorded at the Gages seismic station. A regional earthquake of magnitude about 3.7 occurred about 100 km from Montserrat.
