Morning Update
0700H 13 December, 1995

The level of seismic activity remained low throughout the night, with no volcano-tectonic earthquakes recorded. Several long-period earthquakes occurred, at 01:30, 02:03 and 04:32. These were probably associated with small ash eruptions. The broadband tremor recorded over the last few days continued at a low amplitude on the Gages seismic station.

At dawn, the summit of the volcano was clear and vigourous steam venting was observed. The steam plume varied in size, and contained small amounts of ash at times. This ash fell in the Gages area. A helicopter trip is now underway to take advantage of the good viewing conditions.
