Report for the period 16:00 on 5 November
to 16:00 on 6 November 1995

Twelve (12) earthquakes were located during the period under review. The events were scattered mainly beneath the Soufriere Hills Volcano with a cluster in the Long Ground-Tar River area. The events were mainly volcano-tectonic. Focal depths ranged from 0-4km. There were several episodes of broadband tremor (mostly following eruption signals) and five (5) long period events.

A minor mudflow in Fort Ghaut was recorded at 04:10 this morning.

Three eruption signals were recorded at 20:30 on the 5/11/95 and 03:47 and 10:44 on the 6/11/95. Light ashfall was observed for the 03:47 event which fell mostly in the crater area. This event was also accompanied by a steam plume reaching around 1500 metres (approximately 5000 feet).

The Tar River EDM line was re-measured today. Slight shortening was recorded.

Visual observations of English Crater from Chances Mt. were made both this morning and this afternoon. There has been an increase in size of the July 18th vent.
