Daily Report
Report for the period 5 p.m. 11 March 1999
to 5 p.m. 12 March 1999

Activity has been at a low level during the past twenty-four hours. 7 rockfalls and 6 volcano-tectonic earthquakes were recorded by the seismic network today.

There were also two periods of ash and steam venting at 4:50 p.m. yesterday afternoon and 5:15 a.m. this morning this morning. These both resulted in light ashfall to the west and north-west of the volcano. A new pyroclastic flow deposit was observed in the White River to about 1.5 km from the dome. This may have been formed during the ash venting episodes of the last few days.

Residents of Montserrat are advised to keep listening to ZJB Radio Montserrat for information in case of any changes in the state of the volcano.
