Daily Report
Report for the period 5 p.m. 20 January 1999
to 5 p.m. 21 January 1999

Activity at the Soufriere Hills volcano remains low. There were 17 rockfalls, 2 volcano-tectonic earthquakes, 2 hybrid earthquakes and 1 long period earthquake over the past 24 hours.

Observations made during a helicopter flight showed that the pyroclastic flow, late yesterday afternoon, travelled down the Tar River and reached the edge of the fan.

COSPEC measurements were also made. The data are currently being processed and the results will be reported tomorrow.

Residents of Montserrat are advised to keep listening to ZJB Radio Montserrat for information relating to any further developments in the state of the volcano.
