Daily Report
Report for the period 5 p.m. 27 December
to 5 p.m. 28 December 1998

Volcanic activity has remained low today. Six rockfalls, three hybrid earthquakes and six volcano-tectonic earthquakes triggered the seismograph network over the past twenty-four hours. The volcano-tectonic earthquakes were located directly under the volcano.

Heavy rains overnight led to several mudflows. Several peaks in this activity were observed throughout the night at irregular intervals. Observations in the Belham valley showed that a considerable amount of new debris has been deposited in this area.

Residents of Montserrat are advised to keep listening to ZJB Radio Montserrat for information relating to any further developments in the state of the volcano.
