From MVO@candw.ag Sun Dec 6 10:40:14 1998 Date: Mon, 30 Nov 1998 17:12:56 -0400 From: MVO To: "evening report:email" , "Willy (email) Aspinall" Subject: MVO daily report, 30 November 1998 Montserrat Volcano Observatory Montserrat, W.I. Report for the period 5 p.m. 29 November to 5 p.m. 30 November 1998 Very heavy rain again fell on the volcano last night. This caused mudflows on all flanks of the volcano and down the Belham Valley, and resulted in further new deposits in the Belham valley and elsewhere. Apart from the seismicity associated with the mudflows the seismic networks recorded 7 rockfall signals and 3 volcano-tectonic earthquakes in the last 24 hours. Results from the GPS occupations over the last week show that Long Ground continues to move eastwards. It has now moved in this direction by about 4 cm since March this year. Residents of Montserrat are advised to keep listening to ZJB Radio Montserrat for information relating to any further developments in the state of the volcano. 17:00, 30 November 1998
