Report for the period 5 p.m. 28 November to 5 p.m. 29 November 1998 Very heavy rain fell on the volcano last night with 1.8 inches of rain falling in less than 3 hours at the weather station at Jack Boy Hill. This caused mudflows on all flanks of the volcano and down the Belham Valley. Up to a metre of mudflow deposit now blocks the Belham Bridge. Apart from the seismicity associated with the mudflows the seismic networks recorded 13 rockfall signals and 5 volcano-tectonic earthquakes in the last 24 hours. Residents of Montserrat are advised to keep listening to ZJB Radio Montserrat for information relating to any further developments in the state of the volcano. 17:00, 29 November 1998
