Daily Report
Report for the period 5 p.m. 11 August
to 5 p.m. 12 August 1998

The level of activity at the volcano remained low today. There were 10 volcano-tectonic earthquakes and 9 rockfalls.

Two small pyroclastic flows were observed by a field team in the Plymouth area. The first flow occurred at 10:29 and travelled about 350m from the dome along the north side of the White River valley. A second flow occurred at 13:05 again in the upper part of the White River valley. Both flows generated small ash clouds which drifted to the west over Plymouth.

Dust levels were raised in Salem and Old Towne today, the levels at other sites were low.

Residents should continue listening to Radio Montserrat in case there are sudden developments in the state of the volcano.
