Montserrat Volcano Observatory

Daily Report
Report for the period 5 p.m. 19 July
to 5 p.m. 20 July 1998

Activity at the volcano has been at a low level during the past 24 hours. 14 rockfall signals and 3 volcano-tectonic earthquakes were recorded by the seismic stations.

Correlation spectrometer sulphur dioxide measurements were made this afternoon from the Police Launch. The data are being analysed and results will be available in a later report.

Dust levels were low at all stations today. The heavy rain overnight has helped to dampen ash on the roads.

Residents should continue listening to Radio Montserrat in case there are sudden developments in the state of the volcano.
