Daily Report
Report for the period 5 p.m. 6 July
to 5 p.m. 7 July 1998

Over the last 24 hours the level of volcanic seismicity has been slightly elevated. 14 rockfall signals and 12 volcano-tectonic earthquakes were recorded. There has been more or less continuous ash venting, but this was less vigorous than yesterday.

A series of co-spec measurements were made today to ascertain the level of sulphur-dioxide in the ash plume. The results of these measurements are being processed and will be included in tomorrow's report.

Average dust levels today were low at all sites except for Salem, where there was a raised level of dust in the atmosphere.

Residents should continue listening to Radio Montserrat in case there are more sudden developments in the state of the volcano.
