Montserrat Volcano Observatory

Daily Report
Report for the period 5 p.m. 28 June
to 5 p.m. 29 June 1998

The volcano has remained quiet today. There was only 1 rockfall signal recorded on the network during this reporting period.

A GPS occupation of the Tar River site was started today.

With the exception of the site at MVO in Mongo Hill, where levels were raised, dust levels were very high today at all monitoring sites. This may be a result of Saharan dust blowing across the Atlantic in the upper levels of the atmosphere. Conditions were generally very hazy today.

Residents are reminded that the volcano remains in a potentially active state, and that they should continue listening to Radio Montserrat in case there are sudden changes.
