Daily Report
Report for the period 6 pm 6 March
to 6 pm 7 March 1998

The level of volcanic activity over the last twenty four hours has been low.

Between 16.00 yesterday and 16.00 today there were 17 rockfall signals, 7 hybrid earthquake signals, 7 long period earthquakes and 16 volcano-tectonic earthquakes. The earthquakes have occurred throughout the reporting period.

Data processed from the last long occupation between Harris and Long Ground show that the North East trend on that line is continuing and the total movement so far is about 8cm since April 1997. The long occupation has been completed between Harris and Old Towne and the data set is being processed.

Dust levels at Old Towne at the Catholic school were raised today while levels and St Peters and St John's were low.

Residents are reminded to remain alert and listen to ZJB radio.
