to 7 am 19 February 1998


Volcanic activity has continued to follow the cyclic pattern of the last few weeks. Seismicity overnight remained at a relatively low level during the reporting period, with only occasional earthquakes and activity continuing to be dominated by rockfalls. Last night's peak in the rockfall activity occurred between 9.30pm-10.30pm.

At about 10:30pm very light ashfall was experienced in the Salem and Old Towne area for a very short time.

Residents are reminded to remain alert and listen to ZJB radio for further information.
