Montserrat Volcano Observatory

Morning Report
Report for the period 6 pm 8 February
to 7 am 9 February 1998

Activity at the volcano has remained at about the same level as yesterday with seismicity dominated by rockfall signals.

No ash fell during the night but old ash from a few days ago still covers most areas on the island. Redistribution of this ash by the wind may continue to cause ashy conditions and ash masks should be worn outdoors or in ashy conditions at all times.

Residents are reminded to remain alert and listen to ZJB radio for further information.
