Montserrat Volcano Observatory

Morning Report
Report for the period 6 pm 1 February
to 7 am 2 February 1998

Activity at the volcano has again been dominated by rockfall activity overnight. The volcano is obscured this morning by low clouds. It is hoped that visibility will improve later in the day so further views of the dome may be obtained. The wind is blowing in a north westerly direction so that any ash fall during the day could affect the southernmost populated areas on Montserrat. Residents are reminded to carry a dust mask.

Residents are also reminded to remain alert and listen to ZJB radio for further information
