Introduction

This is an interactive website designed to show a little of what was seen and explored during the GE 506 Course, Field Volcanology of the sea of Cortez, a six week field class in Mexico. The clickable map is a general guide of where we went. You can read about the areas we studied by clicking on the red triangles. This webpage shows a little of what went on during our trip and may help you to plan your own.

Trip Details:

There were ten of us"mamasita." We did a lot of traveling, attended a conference, and visited different volcanoes and volcanic regions. We camped most of the time. A few days each were spent at the Mexican Universities of Sonora, Chihuahua, and Colima. The trip started in Houghton, MI on Jan 12 and ended in Tucson, Arizona on Feb 24th, 1997

Cost estimate: ~$500/student to cover the cost of van, ferries, border and camping fees. Food and drinks were extra.
