It is perhaps worthwhile to remind Volcano-L subscribers (and
others reading updates about Rabaul) that the messages we are
forwarding are not guaranteed to be accurate. The Rabaul eruption
is an exceedingly dynamic phenomenon with a dearth of first-hand
information by qualified scientific observers coming out to the
rest of the world. This situation is improving (note the message
earlier today relayed from the RVO staff through the USGS), and
hopefully more consistent reports will start to arrive soon as
communication lines get re-established.  But those of you in the
media (or talking to same) should keep in mind these
uncertainties.
