Consideration of the meteorology of an area is essential in evaluating and predicting volcanic hazards, as it affects the deposition of volcanic products.

There is a strong rainy season in El Salvador. The temperature near Izalco is essentially the same year round. The rainy season runs from May until November. During this time it is common to cloud up and rain in the afternoon. Due to this it is better to work early in the day while it is still cool and dry
