Who can attend?
Anyone who has an interest
in geology and/or East Africa. The courses are designed to accomdate all levels of expertise from the professional to the novice.
See the course descriptions for help in selecting the appropriate course.
Is this a "Geology Field Course"?
The Introduction to
the Geology of East Africa is designed to provide the student with the same suite of mapping tools and experience normally found in
stateside Field Geology courses. Check the course description. It should satisfy the Field Course requirements of many insititutions.
Check with your college or university to be sure.
How many students typically attend?
Enrollement is capped at 12 students to
ensure a good instructor/student ratio. It is roughly evenly split between novices and experiened geology majors.
I am interested
in going on this trip but don't need the credits. Can I still attend?
There are two options. (1) You can attend the entire course for
a $1000 fee in liu of tuition. You will be expected to participate in all trips and exercises. (2) You can attend the last two weeks
when we leave Nairobi and go on safari. You will travel separately and stay in separate rooms. Parents and "significant others" who
want to share the Africa experience but aren't interested in the course aspects find this a good solution. Inquire for more details
and costs.
