Altocumulus Clouds

Altocumulus clouds are a mixture of water and ice clouds. They are likely to bring precipitation within 15 to 20 hours if wind is steady NE to S. Other wind directions bring overcast skies.

Other varieties include:

Altocumulus translucidus

Altocumulus undulatus

Altocumulus perlucidus

Altocumulus and Cirrus at sunset

This mix of clouds is characterized by middle water to ice clouds with a brilliant white backround. Precipitation is likely within 20 to 24 hours if the winds are from the NE E to S.
