WATERBORNE DISEASES
Background
Cholera and typhoid fever were wide spread one hundred years ago. But improved sanitation and water supplies have drastically reduced the risk. In developed contries it is rare to contract a waterborne disease, but outbreaks in the United States do occur periodically.
The most common health problem associated with waterborne microorganisms is amoebic dysentary. A common example of this would be in Mexico City, called Montazuma's Revenge. Other symptoms are vomiting and anorexia.
