Fabius Levee District

The Fabius Levee District fell victim to the flood waters through sabotage. A man created a hole in the Fabius levee because he felt that the area was not receiving enough attention from the Corps and local governments. Ironically, the breakage of the Fabius might have kept the maximum stage height on the Mississippi from being realized, saving smaller levee districts from flooding.

Mud lines on the pump station. River is to the right of the levee. Water heights here were several feet above the levee. Long pipes deliver runoff from the drainage district through the levee back into the river.
