GE 202 Course Information
Goals and Objectives
This course is intended to provide students with the experience and knowledge
required to make informed decisions on matters of personal and public significance
and to continue to learn about the earth and how it works throughout their
lives. The scientific process and skepticism concerning fads or trends
will be stressed throughout the course.
Lectures: Attendance expected; material will be provided that is not
available from the text or web site. But attendance is not taken.
Policies and Procedures
Labs: Attendance required. If you know you will be absent in advance due
to reasons beyond your control, you MUST make arrangements with your lab
instructor; you may NOT simply decide to show up at another lab without
prior arrangements (the lab may already be full). Labs are expected to
be completed during the lab period, except as noted by the lab instructors.
Lab material will be included in the regular exams; there are no additional
exams in the lab periods.
Exams: Exams are required; absences will not be permitted without prior
arrangement or medical emergency (documented). In the event of a "Snow
Advisory" during which students are excused from attending classes by announcement
from University officials, an exam will be postponed to the next scheduled
lecture period; there will still be a lecture at the time that the exam
was scheduled, and the material covered will be required.Policies and Procedures

Snow Advisory Policy
If an announcement that a "snow advisory"or other emergency is made by
the University administration such that students are to be excused from
classes, class will still be held (unless the entire University is closed),
and you will be responsible for the material covered; however, every effort
will be made to make that material readily accessible to all students.
If such an announcement occurs on a scheduled exam date, the exam will
be postponed to the next regularly scheduled class time, and a lecture
will take place on the day of the advisory.
