Kelly Campbell graduated with honors in mining engineering and geology from MTU.

During his career, he has been employed as a mining engineer, geologist, chief project engineer, general manager, managing agent and part owner, and assistant vice president, prior to his promotion as vice president.

He received the MTU Board of Control Silver Medal in 1982, was a Century II Campaign volunteer, and is a member of the Presidents Club.  He holds memberships in the AIME, American Iron Ore Association, American Iron & Steel Institute, and American Mining Congress.  He serves as an officer or director of the United States Hockey Hall of Fame, Northeastern Minnesota Development Association, the Lake Superior Industrial Bureau and various civic and service organizations.
