Bete Grise

              Bete Grise                  EarthCache

A series of exposures of the Keweenaw Fault occur along the steep shoreline N of Bete Grise.  This is perhaps the best exposure of the fault--where you can put your finger on it!

Along the Keweenaw Water Trail, with only a few feet of water depth, You can trace the fault where the red Jacobsville layers contrast with the black lavas of the Portage Lake Volcanics.
