Jacob’s Creek

Greenstone Flow
Ashbed
Great Sand Bay

Along Jacob’s Creek there is nearly continuous exposure of basalt flows with amygdaloidal tops from the falls to the Ashbed load. In late summer when water levels are low, it is possible to walk the riverbed.  The brothers at the monastery have constructed trails to go up and downstream (ask at the Jampot).

Decades ago a beaver dam broke and produced a mudflow which destroyed many of the buildings of an old motel which was located on the N side of M-26 below the falls.  A few of the motel buildings survived and are used by the brothers.
