I’m going to talk about lava
dome eruptions: how they collapse and the role that the fracture of magma has
to play.

After a brief overview of
lava domes, which may be familiar material for you, I’ll discuss some current
ideas about how magma fractures and domes collapse and highlight some of
major gaps in our understanding which need to be addressed…
|
|
|
|
I’ll be covering quite a lot
of material and there’s plenty of extra references given if you’re
particularly interested in any particular aspect, as well as the three .pdf
files of key papers.

|
|
However, I hope you’ll be
able to get something out of it just by reading what’s given here if you
don’t have time to explore further….
